After five years of "annual reviews" of the blog's privacy policy it is probably about time to do it properly and actually review the policy. Rather than thinking "doing it the first time was a PITA, let's just pretend it is still fit for purpose" then rolling over the review till next year. Even this year's review has been waiting three months for me to get a round tuit . The last time I really expended any effort thinking about the privacy policy was when I wrote it in the first place. I have already covered that but the tldr is I made a franken-policy cobbled together from a variety of different sources. Mostly because there is zero budget for this and because the whole blog is run on Google Blogger . They take care of the cookie information and that they collect data is why the platform is free. Took me a while to cotton on to this, but adjusting my posting workflow slightly has made a big difference to the time taken to publish a blog post . It has been 11 weeks since my last post. I have been bad (otherwise engaged) but promise I will be good (start making headway on this project again). Having a break in posting does allow for a bit of a review of what I have done so far. Basically I have tackled two projects, documenting the Blogger interface and working on Wikipedia. The first is essentially complete at the brief overview level and the second stalled as the learning curve required to progress steepened. Both are worthy/interesting enough to me to continue with them. But I'd still like to broaden this blog to include more, different topics, although precisely what I haven't decided. There, that feels better; I did mention that this would be writing therapy didn't I?

The blog has reached 20 … blog posts, so time to have a quick review of progress. Since the last review I've established a working process for creating posts and become more familiar with the Blogger interface . But that learning curve and its' documentation has sucked up most of the time available for writing posts. So I have only published twice on non-blogging topics, which isn't what I started out to do. I recall reading once that most things made on a lathe are more tools for the lathe, and so it has been that most of my blogging has been about blogging (and this is yet another post about blogging). I will still continue investigate the Blogger system in more detail as there is more utility to be had from a better understanding of it, but it is also time to do something else. Back to Wikipedia first I think.

Now the blog is up and running it's time to review progress against the initial goals. Which were, Get blog on-line - Done Use own domain - Sort of Blog in private mode - Done If I had put my mind to it I think I could have set the blog up in an afternoon, apart from the hiccough with the domain name. The next thing to investigate is the Blogger dashboard . But as everything is basically working it's steady as she goes.

What is a wheretofore anyway? Well I am tired of shouting at the TV, radio, computer, etc ., which is what has been happening thus far. So even if this is just writing therapy , and no-one else in the world reads it beyond web bots , it will hopefully serve some purpose. If only for me. Regarding the whys: Why not? Then again, why bother? Basically what is the point of having any thoughts/opinions/ideas, solving any problems or even just identifying them, if the knowledge gained doesn't travel any further than the inner leaflet of your cranium? So why? Because I can; because even on the off-chance that it proves useful to someone it might be worth doing; because it's another skill to add to the set. How is simple: It's just a problem to be solved. A blog is the way to go I think. No need to go overboard on the complexity. Just use the standard tools available on the web and save the originality for something that needs it. A very quick review of blogging...
