Problems, problems.
As part of an HA-Grocy update to v0.24.0, released on the 16th Feb 2025, a point version upgrade of Grocy was included from v4.3.0 to v4.4.1. Unfortunately it was found that the update had dismasted parts of the HA-Grocy app (see 1/2), preventing users from opening pop-up windows in the Grocy iframe; for instance, when clicking the "Add" button in tasks no action is taken.
The root cause was a bug in the Grocy version released on the 31st January (v4.4.1). Although to be fair, Grocy is not specifically aimed at supporting Home Assistant (HA) and as a standalone installation the Grocy program continued to function normally. Happily, the bug was patched by Bernd in v4.4.2, released on 28th Feb. Unhappily, the HA-Grocy Add-on is still missing the patch as of the 20th June.
So if you are installing from the Add-on Store in Home Assistant it simply won't be fully functional (this is tested and confirmed). If you've already installed it you should have the option to roll-back to an earlier, working version of the Add-on (v0.23). As long as you don't mind losing any data that you have entered since the roll-back, which isn't very palatable. Basically, if you've updated already the add-on is only going to be partly functional.
Fortunately there is a workaround for PC users (I think you are out of luck if you are trying to run Grocy through a device using HA in kiosk mode). As both Home Assistant and Grocy run out of your web browser, right-clicking and opening the a new tab will allow you access to the desired pop-up window, for MS Edge and Google Chrome. In Firefox, right-click to get to the following menu options, This Frame > Show Only This Frame, which can be used to 'pop' Grocy out of the HA window.
